Bio

Born Anna Mae Bullock, Tina Turner is an American singer, dancer, and actress. She has won several awards throughout her career, including Grammy Awards for Album of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. Known as the “Queen of Rock & Roll,” Turner has sold over 100 million records worldwide, making her the best-selling female artist of all time.

Turner was born into a sharecropping family in Brownsville, Tennessee. Her love for music began as a teenager, and she began performing locally. After relocating to St. Louis, Missouri, she met her late husband, Ike Turner, and joined his band ‘the Kings of Rhythm.’ With her intoxicating performances, Turner soon became the star of the show, releasing hit singles such as, ‘Nutbush City Limits,’ ‘Proud Mary,’ ‘Mountain High,’ and ‘River Deep.’ The group disbanded in 1976 due to Ike and Tina’s turbulent relationship.

After an extended break from the music industry, Turner made an epic comeback in the early 1980s and released her most successful album, ‘Private Dancer,’ featuring the hit song, ‘What’s Love Got to do With It.’ Tina Turner went on to release nineteen solo albums.

Although Tina Turner is most well-known for her music career, she has also had some success in acting staring in films such as, ‘Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome,’ and ‘The Last Action Hero.’ Turner released her last album, ‘Foreign Affair,’ in 2021.’
